Plan of Care

For all women with normal obstetrical health, visits with the midwife will be once every four weeks until 32 weeks gestation, bi-weekly until 36 weeks gestation, and weekly until delivery. Every client will be seen twice by a physician or CNM, once early and once in the last 6 weeks of pregnancy. If there are any abnormalities, the mother will be seen accordingly.

Details of the Midwifery Model of Care can be found in detail at Citizens for Midwifery.
Their definition includes:

  • Monitoring the physical, psychological, and social well-being of the mother throughout the childbearing cycle
  • Providing the mother with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support
  • Minimizing technological interventions
  • Identifying and referring women who require obstetrical attention
